Air Force Fundraiser-Aug. 25

We held a a U.S. Air Force Fund Raiser for the men & women at Fort Gordon. Since my son, Aaron, was in the Air Force for 8 years, we support a fund raiser each year. Here are the wines and brews we had for the tasting.

Villa Pozzi Pinot Grigio
Clear to light straw colored, this Pinot Grigio exhibits soft aromatic flavors of perfumed rose and soft honeysuckle that are attractive and indicative of the refreshing and rounded fruit style. The structure of this wine is well balanced and clean. Wonderfully à complemented by a firm and crisp acidic finish.–From their Website

The Crossings Sauvignon Blanc
The color shimmers with an attractive yet subtle green and gold hue. Grapefruit with cut grass, dried herb and stoneflint compliment passion fruit and pungent citrusy aromas. The palate is soft gooseberry notes against a wonderfully vibrant intensity leads onto a ripe and nicely textured mid-palate. Lime zest nuances spring from the mouth-watering acidity and signature minerality of the plate and very persistent finish.–From their Website

Villa Pozzi Nero D’ Avola

Unibroue La Fin Du Monde
The style is blonde with a golden hue. It is slightly cloudy with a white, creamy, generous head. Champaign-like bubbles. It has a floral bouquet with aromas of honey, spice, coriander, malt, and alcohol. The flavor is mildly yeasty with a complex palate of malt, fruit and spice notes followed by a smooth, dry finish. It has a medium body with an aftertaste that pleasantly lingers on with a warm finish.–From their Website

Unibroue Trois Pistoles
It’s an Abbey Style Strong Dark Ale. The color is dark brown and is opaque and cloudy. The head is a rich lacy beige foam. The nose has strong malt flavor, roasted aromas with chocolate, brown rum, and spice. The flavor is slightly sweet. Enhanced by accents of roasted malt, cocoa, ripe fruit and dark spices with a smooth finish like an old port. Has a medium body with an aftertaste that pleasantly lingers on.–From their Website

This is a strong amber-red ale. Cloudy with a beige, rocky foam head. The nose is malt, orange, wild spices with fragrances of coriander and cloves and floral hop notes. Uinta Dubhe Imperial Black IPA
Toasted, chocolaty dark malts align with an astronomical amount of hops. Named Utah’s Centennial Star in 1996, Dubhe (pronounced Doo-bee) illuminates the front of the big dipper from 124 light years away. Dubhe, also known as Alpha Ursae Majoris, is a red giant that appears orange in color and has a mass 4x that of the sun. This beer is brewed with Hemp Seed. IBU is 109.–From their Website
