THE FOUNDATION.
The CSRA GYN Cancer Support Group was established in February 2004 in Augusta, Georgia by Dr. Sharad Ghamande, Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Professor in the Section of Gynecologic Oncology at Augusta University. Dr. Ghamande also serves as the Associate Director of Clinical Research at the Georgia Cancer Center. Throughout the years, this support group has become one of the country’s largest grassroots support groups dedicated to helping women with cancer.
They work with patients and families to provide structured education, support, and a buddy-mentorship program, helping them maintain hope and guidance through a most difficult period. In addition, this group sponsors activities surrounding their patients throughout the year, including Monthly Meetings, an annual Spa Day, Christmas Party, and other group activities.
HOW DOES CORK & FLAME GET INVOLVED?
Chef Justin Hayes is proud to team-up with support group founder, Dr. Sharad Ghamande, to support numerous activities throughout the year. The Annual CSRA GYN Cancer Support Group Dinner is the biggest event hosted here at Cork & Flame and invites the outside community to join in on the fun.

Doors Open at 6:00pm, Event Begins at 7:00 pm
For the past 9 years, Chef Justin Hayes has partnered with Dr. Sharad Ghamande to host this charity event, and it has become one of the most popular annual events here at Cork & Flame.
Guests are welcomed to an early reception with hors d’oeuvres as they browse through the coveted auction. This is followed by live entertainment, a live auction, and a beautifully curated coursed menu with wine pairings presented by Chef Justin Hayes.

On Friday, November 3, 2023 we will be hosting the 16th Annual CSRA GYN Cancer Support Group Wine Tasting & Silent Auction here at Cork and Flame.
We anticipate approximately 125 guests at this function and the funds raised stay local and almost entirely go to benefitting women from CSRA around as they battle gynecological cancer.
Please consider supporting our event by donating gift certificates, merchandise, or services from your company. All donations are greatly appreciated and can be something as simple as a gift certificate to your company, a night on the town, or a weekend at your favorite resort or spa.
In exchange, you will receive some excellent community exposure and advertising. Your company’s name and information will be listed in the event brochure. If you are an individual member or your company cannot donate an item, please consider calling a few places in your surrounding community to see if they would be willing to donate an item to our Silent Auction.
Our support group is a non-profit organization under Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code, so your donation is fully tax-deductible.
