Great Brews Right Here

We sponsored the Craft Brew portion of the Yuchikiokee Music, Art & Craft Beer Festival last year. We have some of those craft brews available at the store.

Service Brewing, located in downtown Savannah, is a a veteran owned and operated craft brewery, dedicated to honoring those that have put their lives at risk and their country and community first. They will donate a portion of our revenues to assist charities that support service. They were on hand to talk about their brews at the festival. If you ever spent time with your “boots on the ground” you’ll recognize the names Compass Rose and Ground Pounder .

But that wasn’t the only Savannah-based brew we had. We also had Coastal Empire Brewing‘s Savannah Brown Ale and Tybee Island Blonde .

If you didn’t make it Saturday or got rained out Sunday then drop by and buy some Service’s brews as well as the great brews we featured. Here’ the list of what we presented that you can now stop buy and purchase:

Here are the detailed brew notes:
Service Compass Rose | Savannah, Georgia
The Nautical Compass Rose has helped Mariners find their way for centuries. Our Compass Rose IPA honors those who have dedicated themselves to building the proud tradition of our navy. Like a ship charging across friendly waters, this American-style IPA balances a medium-bodied malt presence with a bitterness that does not overpower. With its hop forward taste and refreshing citrus and floral notes, this is a brew for the high seas.–From their Website

Like a good soldier, the Ground Pounder Pale Ale is first and foremost loyal to its country: An American Pale Ale through and through.

21st Admendment Back in Black IPA | San Francisco, California
nspired by Paul Revere’s midnight ride, we rebelled against the British style IPA, embraced the more aggressive American version and then recast it in bold, brave, defiant black. Our Black IPA is a Declaration of Independence from the tyranny of the expected. Back in Black is our newest year-round beer available now in six pack cans and on draft. Brewed like an American IPA but with the addition of rich, dark malts, this beer has all the flavor and hop character you expect with a smooth, mellow finish.–From their Website

Savannah Brown Ale | Savannah, Georgia
Savannah Brown Ale is an American brown ale crafted with a rich malt flavor, balanced by a crisp hop finish. It has aromas of roasted nuts, chocolate, and citrus. The flavors start with a blend of chocolate, caramel, and roasted nuts and follow with a balance of resinous and citrusy hops.
The beer pairs well with hearty dishes. Steaks, hamburgers, and sausage are all good choices, and the hoppiness of the beer makes it particularly well suited to be served alongside game dishes. The beer also stands up to strong cheeses such as sharp cheddar, gorgonzola, blue, and (our favorite) asiago. 6.2% ABV, 18.9 SRM, 55 IBU. –From their Website

Tybee Island Blonde | Savannah, Georgia
Tybee Island Blonde is a Kölsch style ale. It is a clean, crisp, session beer brewed with noble hops. The Blonde has a light floral aroma and a mild hop bitterness. The agreeable nature of this German style ale means that it will get along well with many foods, but you haveto pick a dish that won’t overwhelm it. Being that we are on the coast, we suggest you start by pairing it with some seafood! 4.7% ABV, 3.7 SRM, 17 IBU. –From their Website

Oskar Blues Momma’s Little Yella Pils | Colorado
Oskar Blues’ Mama’s Little Yella Pils is an uncompromising, small-batch version of the beer that made Pilsen, Czech Republic, famous. Unlike mass market “pilsners” diluted with corn & rice, Mama’s is built with 100% pale malt, German specialty malts, and Saaz hops. While its rich with Czeched-out flavor, its gentle hopping (35 IBUs) and low ABV (just 5.3%) make it a luxurious but low-dose (by Oskar Blues standards) refresher. The mildness of MLYP goes with shellfish SHELLFISH, MUSCLES, SALAD, chili, creole mussels, oysters, sausage, seafood. (They have a recipe for Creole Steamed Mussels on their website that sounds real good).–From their Website
