Shafer–Out of the State for the Last 5 Years is Back!

Highly Collectable! High Ratings! And We Will be Tasting Them This Saturday Only!!

According to some, Shafer Hillside Select is one of the most collectable wines in the world. Out of the top 50 most collectable wines, Shafer Hillside Select Vintage ’01, ’04, ’05 are considered highly collectable. This new Hillside Select release vintage of ’06 is rated higher at 97 points by Robert Parker!

Shafer has been absent from our state for 5 years and The Vineyard wants to share one of the most desirable wines ever made! You may not want to purchase this wine because they are high end, but this is a chance to taste these beauties for $15 a flight!

The Shafers are the first Napa Valley vintners to receive ‘Outstanding Wine and Spirits Professional’ since 1996.

Napa’s Shafer Vineyards Received the Beard Foundation Award too!

This award is considered “the Oscars of the food world” according to Time magazine. Former recipients were Robert Mondavi (’91) and André Tchelistcheff (’92), two men that were largely responsible for the rise of Napa

Here is what we will be tasting on Saturday only!
2007 Shafer Merlot Napa Valley; 14.9% alc., $48.99. 92 Points Wine Spectator! Clear ruby color, fading to a clear edge. Very attractive nose of sweet, ripe cherries, plums and cedar. Generous on the palate with opulent, rich fruit flavors. A beautifully structured Merlot that is delicious now but will continue to develop over time. Fine enough to enjoy as a stand-alone wine; or pair it with duck or pork dishes. Attractively priced for a Napa Valley Merlot of this quality. Highly recommended.

2007 Shafer One Point Five Napa Valley Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon; 14.9% alc., $69.99. 93 Points Robert Parker! Stags Leap District is to Napa Valley what Vosne-Romanée is to Burgundy. Cabernet Sauvignon from this hillside appellation typically commands some of the highest prices of New World Cabernets. For those disinclined to spend $200+ for Shafer’s fabled Hillside Select Cabernet Sauvignon, they offer a spectacular affordable alternative called One Point Five. It’s 99% Cabernet Sauvignon, 1% Petite Verdot. This wine displays a classic Cabernet Sauvignon nose with strong notes of ripe blackberries, cassis, and pepper. Rich, supple varietal flavors almost overwhelm the palate; like tasting a sauce that has been reduced to an essence. Beautiful texture in the glass and on the palate. Its structure balances the deep extract of its flavors, lending it age-worthiness. A profound Napa Valley Cabernet at an attractive price. Highly recommended.

2006 Shafer Relentless Napa Valley; 14.9% alc., $69.99. 94 Points Robert Parker! The first whiff identifies Shafer’s Relentless as a classic Syrah in the northern Rhône mold. It’s as good as California Syrah gets! Huge, rich and powerful, yet not overbearing. Relentless is mouth-filling with a velvety finish. Exquisitely balanced and richly textured. Serve this beauty with boldly flavored foods such as roasted or barbecued lamb or a fine, aged Cheddar cheese. Very highly recommended.

2006 Shafer Hillside Select!!!! “One of the New World’s most profound Cabernet Sauvignons” – Robert M. Parker, Jr., The Wine Advocate 97 Points!!! 14.5% alc., $214.99.

“A newly opened bottle of 2006 announces itself with lifted, aromatic beauty. The lively, elegant nose is followed in the mouth with a core of juicy, black fruit, chocolate, black plums, cassis, black and red cherry, black tea, and vanilla and spice. Ripe, round, Stags Leap District tannins put together good structure for very long term aging

This will be one of the most exciting tasting we have ever had! You may even see our competition here to taste these wines they are so hard to get! If you do, be nice, competition is good! Click here or on the Shafer Bottle to see a video about Shafer.
