We at The Vineyard only wishing we could say Happy Birthday once again as we had for many years to Bobby Johnson, he was a man of many talents and great stories.

Bobby could draw anyone in with ease. So many years of fun times
We can not believe they now are gone. We miss you more than words can say thought your legacy still lives on with Dalton & Chandler.

We miss your smile. We miss your ways. He had heart of gold. We hope Bobby knows how thankful it was to have him for a friend.

So today let us say Happy Birthday Bobby with sadness but little regret to let everyone know we miss what was one of the greatest guys we ever met.

We will be using this weekend’s tasting to honor of Bobby Johnson’s Birthday

On Saturday we will have the Georgia game on the screen so you won’t miss a play! That would be the way Bobby would want it!

Here is our original story from that sad day last year when we found out the bad news.

All of us in the wine business were shocked to hear that Bobby Johnson had a massive stroke this last Sunday. Bobby has been a wine representative in the Augusta area before The Vineyard opened 12 years ago. He has been our rep the entire time working for Georgia Crown then moving to Hemisphere’s Global Wines.

Bobby worked at several of the popular restaurants in the area; Calvert’s and Cadwallader’s comes to mind. You have met Bobby at our tastings and many of the wine dinners around town. Bobby introduced the area to some of the finest wines on earth! He was a special rep for us but that’s not all.

Bobby is Johnny’s best friend. They often golfed together. Bobby dropped in the store at least 3 to 4 times a week always sharing his wines with customers. Many of you would recognize his infectious laughter. He was a harden University of Georgia fan; even down to his choice of dogs, his beloved English Bulldog, Sugar.

Bobby loved to cook and we talked about it, shared recipes, cooked for each other & always shared wine together. He taught me about Korean food and kimchi. Always a good time when he came in!

What was more fun was when he brought Angela, Chandler & Dalton, even Sugar into The Vineyard from time to time. The late nights with Bobby & Angela as so memorable and will be missed. Bobby loves Angela, Chandler & Dalton so much; he was always proud of his family.

Bobby gave his love to his family unconditionally! He had such a giving heart towards others. Even in death, Bobby continued to give; he was an organ donor. Bobby was & is a good man! Johnny & I was honored to know & call him a friend. Our life has been enriched just knowing him.

Bobby’s memorial service will be Saturday, October 1st at 11 a.m. at Thomas Poteet & Son Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity on the Hill’s “Love Unlimited Scholarship Fund”, 1330 Monte Sano Ave., Augusta GA 30904 or if you prefer, Stevens Creek Church, 600 Stevens Creek Road, Augusta GA. 30907.

The Vineyard will not open Saturday Oct, 1st till 1:30 pm so we can attend Bobby’s Memorial.
